Move Over

They say its heart moved: from a hilltop with its castle, market, and church, to a lower place, by the new road which didn’t angle and narrow and cause its traffic to slip and fall and jam. They say it was not just its heart: the priest’s house retired, timber by timber, to a country park; the church bells relocated to Marple; even the bodies in the graveyard had to move over.
